As of the last fiscal year, 41% of the endowment's assets were allocated to private equity, and 31% to hedge funds. Narvekar's departure comes at a challenging time, as the endowment faces pressure from the Trump administration, which has attempted to freeze federal grants to Harvard and other elite institutions. His compensation for 2024 was reported at $6.2 million, consistent with previous years, reflecting the high stakes involved in managing such a significant financial portfolio.
