Karthikeyan, the MLA representing the Madurai East Assembly constituency of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam party, has made a public appeal to the Commissioner of Police in Madurai City to take decisive action against the sale of narcotic substances, particularly ganja. He expressed concern that these substances are easily accessible near markets and educational institutions, posing a significant risk to the community. Given the densely populated nature of the Madurai East constituency, which features both urban and semi-urban areas, Karthikeyan stressed the importance of strict enforcement measures to combat this issue. He pointed out that the state government, under Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, has already taken steps to reduce alcohol availability by shutting down 717 Tasmac outlets across Tamil Nadu. In addition to addressing drug sales, Karthikeyan announced his intention to establish an office where constituents can bring forth their grievances, assuring them that their concerns will be addressed promptly and without any expectation of personal gain. This initiative aims to foster a safer and more supportive environment for the residents of Madurai East.
