Instagram has launched a new feature called Instants, which allows users to share temporary, unfiltered photos with a select group of followers. This feature is designed for sharing 'unpolished moments' that can only be viewed once, similar to how Snapchat operates. Unlike Instagram Stories, which last for 24 hours, Instants provides a more ephemeral sharing option. Users can disable the Instants feature by going to their profile, clicking on the three-line menu, and selecting 'Content Preferences' to toggle off 'Hide Instants In Inbox'. For those who prefer not to disable it entirely, there is an option to temporarily stop receiving Instants by swiping right on the Instants pile in their inbox. If a user accidentally shares an Instant, they can use the 'Undo' option to retract it before it is viewed. Additionally, users can delete an Instant from their archive to unsend it for friends who haven't opened it yet. This new feature adds a layer of privacy and spontaneity to photo sharing on Instagram.
