According to a study published by the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI), the rate of negative official statements about Israel from European Union institutions has increased by nearly 60% since the October 7 Hamas attacks. The research, led by Professor Sharon Pardo and colleagues, analyzed over 24,000 statements from the European External Action Service between 2017 and 2026, focusing on those related to Israel. The findings revealed that 38% of Israel-related statements were negative, with the rate rising from 29% pre-October 7 to nearly 46% post-attack. In contrast, neutral statements fell from 51% to 46%, and positive statements dropped from 20% to 8%. Notably, only Iran received a higher number of negative statements, attributed to security issues. JPPI President Yedidiya Stern expressed concern that Europe is increasingly distancing itself from Jews, citing rising anti-Semitism and discriminatory laws in various European states. He emphasized the need for Israel to address this trend more effectively, framing it as a national security issue.
