This facility aims to provide clean drinking water to approximately 1,200 residents from 300 families in the area, addressing the severe water scarcity that has long plagued the region due to high salinity and pollution. The plant was inaugurated by Major Ravi, the Managing Director of the foundation, during a ceremony attended by key figures including Sajeev Soman and Sharath Nair from Tata Elxsi, which collaborated on the project. Although Mohanlal could not attend the event, he expressed his appreciation for the community through a special video message. This new installation is part of the foundation's broader commitment to ensure sustainable access to clean water, following the establishment of three previous purification plants in Kuttanad, including a significant facility in Edathua that serves over 500 families by producing 2,000 litres of clean water per hour.
