On April 20, the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) announced that Coolidge High School's sports teams are now eligible for postseason play after their probation status was reduced to a warning. The probation was initially imposed following incidents of hostile behavior from fans during a 3A playoff basketball game against Chinle High School. Although the basketball team was not at fault, the AIA determined that there was inadequate crowd control. In response to the AIA's concerns, Coolidge High implemented a corrective action plan, which included personnel changes, such as the removal of Carlo Hernandez as athletic director. Tres Chapman has taken over as the head athletic director. Superintendent Dawn Hodge expressed gratitude for the AIA's review and emphasized the school's commitment to maintaining accountability and improving the athletic experience for students and spectators. The AIA will continue to monitor the school's progress bi-weekly until February.
