The investigation stems from allegations made by publicist and record producer Jonathan Hay, who reported incidents occurring in 2020 and 2021 involving a male victim. The L.A. Police Department (LAPD) and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) each presented separate investigations regarding these claims to the District Attorney's Office in the fall of 2025. Hay, who has publicly identified himself as a survivor, stated that this validation of his accounts is a crucial moment in his pursuit of justice. Combs, who is currently serving a 50-month sentence for federal charges related to prostitution, has previously been cleared of more serious charges including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He is appealing these convictions while incarcerated at the low-security Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix in New Jersey. Attorneys representing Combs have not yet responded to requests for comment on the ongoing investigation.
