Residents of Arun Vihar in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, have taken significant steps to transform a long-neglected green belt into a clean and breathable space. With the assistance of the Noida authority and the Floriculture Society of Noida, they cleared 24,000 square feet of land, removing around 14-15 truckloads of construction and demolition (C&D) waste. The Arun Vihar Residents Welfare Association (AVRWA) organized a plantation drive to mark Earth Day, aiming to foster community ownership of the newly reclaimed area. AVRWA chairman, retired Colonel Prashant Gupta, highlighted the initiative's focus on action and collaboration rather than mere discussion. Anand Mohan Singh, deputy director of horticulture at the Noida authority, praised the residents' efforts and confirmed the authority's support by providing plants for the drive. Community member Preeti Singh noted the deterioration of the area over the years and emphasized shared responsibility between residents and authorities in maintaining the green space.
