Edmonton has introduced a new platform for garage sales called YardQuest, developed by local enthusiasts Matthew Peace and Connor Braun. Launched in April, the website allows sellers to list their garage sales on a live map, making it easier for buyers to locate sales in their area. Sellers can create listings without needing an account, and their addresses are kept private until the sale begins. After the sale concludes, listings are automatically deleted, ensuring user privacy. During the last weekend of May, YardQuest featured 200 garage sales and attracted nearly 400 visitors. The platform aims to simplify the process of finding garage sales, addressing frustrations experienced by buyers. Additionally, the Terwillegar community has a similar initiative, promoting local yard sales through a community map, which enhances participation and reduces waste by encouraging the reuse of goods. Both YardQuest and the Terwillegar initiative emphasize community building and environmental sustainability.
