A suspected cow smuggler was apprehended in Nuh, Haryana, after a police shoot-out on Saturday night. The accused, identified as a resident of Luhinga Kalan village under Punhana police station limits, allegedly fired at police officers during a targeted operation. In response, police returned fire, injuring him in the leg. He was subsequently arrested and taken to a nearby hospital, where he remains under police supervision. The suspect is known to have a significant criminal record, with approximately 10 cases against him, including those related to cow smuggling and slaughter. The police operation was initiated based on a tip-off regarding his presence near Palla village. Authorities have intensified measures against cow smuggling in the Punhana subdivision, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards such crimes. An FIR has been filed at Punhana police station under the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act, 2015, and further investigations are ongoing.
