The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Saturday that its scrutiny of voting records for the Phase-I of the 2026 Assembly elections in both Tamil Nadu and West Bengal has concluded without recommending any repoll. The examination focused on Form 17A, the official register of voters, alongside other poll-day documents, to ensure transparency and detect any malpractices. In West Bengal, the scrutiny on April 24, 2026, covered all 152 Assembly Constituencies, with participation from over 600 candidates or their representatives. Similarly, in Tamil Nadu, the scrutiny included all 234 Assembly Constituencies, with 1,825 candidates involved. The ECI reported that no irregularities were found at any of the 44,376 polling stations in West Bengal or the 75,064 polling stations in Tamil Nadu that voted on April 23, 2026. The entire scrutiny process was videographed, and security measures, including a double-lock system and CCTV surveillance, were implemented to safeguard the voting materials.
