In a tragic incident in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, two young girls died after inhaling toxic fumes from pesticide-treated wheat stored in a poorly ventilated room. The incident occurred in the Triveni Hills area, where the children were visiting their maternal home for the summer holidays. Pooja, a brick kiln operator's daughter, had brought her five-year-old daughter Jenisha and her one-and-a-half-month-old infant Trisha to the house. Also present were her sister Reena and her children, including three-and-a-half-month-old Rehan and four-year-old Anika. On Monday night, the children slept in a rear room where approximately four quintals of wheat, treated with chemical pesticides, were stored. By Tuesday morning, the children exhibited distress symptoms, with Trisha found foaming at the mouth. Tragically, Trisha died later that evening, followed by Anika on Wednesday morning. Jenisha remains in critical condition, while Rehan and Yeshu, another child present, are receiving treatment in Ujjain. Investigations suggest that the pesticide fumes accumulated in the sealed room overnight, creating suffocation-like conditions.
