The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has announced its unconditional support for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government in Tamil Nadu, led by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. IUML National President KM Kadher Moideen stated that the party's decision was motivated by a desire to prevent 'Governor's rule' in the state, which they believe could facilitate BJP governance. Despite TVK being the single largest party with 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly, it required additional support to secure a majority. Moideen highlighted concerns from the Muslim community regarding the potential consequences of failing to form a government by the Governor's deadline.

While IUML did not demand any ministerial positions, they were invited to join the cabinet, nominating MLA AM Shahjahan to represent them. Moideen also assured that IUML's alliance with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) remains intact, clarifying that political strategies for future elections will be determined later. He praised Chief Minister Vijay as a popular leader, noting that the public is eagerly anticipating his governance. The Tamil Nadu cabinet has recently expanded, with 23 ministers allocated portfolios, and the state has established a dedicated Artificial Intelligence department at the cabinet level, becoming the second state in India to do so.
