US President Donald Trump recently stated that Iran is willing to transfer its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, which he refers to as 'nuclear dust.' This term is not scientifically recognized but is used to describe Iran's uranium enriched to 60%, which is below the weapons-grade threshold of 90%. Despite Trump's claims, Iran has denied any final agreement regarding this issue. The US administration is concerned that even if Iran commits to not developing nuclear weapons, retaining such uranium could enable a rapid restart of its nuclear program. Trump indicated that both parties are close to a deal, which may involve the US receiving Iran's enriched uranium stockpile without any financial exchange. Much of this uranium is believed to be buried in underground facilities, particularly at the Isfahan nuclear complex and Natanz. Iran insists that its nuclear activities are for civilian energy purposes, although its only operational nuclear power plant, Bushehr, contributes minimally to its electricity supply.
