Speaking at an event, he highlighted the significance of the recent EU-India summit, which resulted in a joint strategic agenda for the next five years and the conclusion of negotiations for a comprehensive free trade agreement (FTA). This FTA is anticipated to double the current trade value, which was approximately USD 136 billion for the financial year 2024-25, with exports around USD 76 billion and imports at USD 60 billion. Delphin characterized the partnership as 'limitless, ambitious and progressive,' underscoring the political trust shared by leaders on both sides. He also noted the EU's role as a peace project and reiterated the importance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message that this is 'not an era of war,' which resonates with European values.
