Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced the withdrawal of the 3% salary deferment for Class I and Class II officers during the Himachal Day celebrations in Reckong Peo. This decision comes as a relief amid ongoing financial challenges faced by the state due to the discontinuation of the revenue deficit grant (RDG). While the deferment for these officers is lifted, Sukhu's 50% salary deferment and cuts for ministers and senior officials will continue. The CM also pledged to clear pending gratuity and leave encashment for Class IV employees who retired between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2021, at an estimated cost of ₹50 crore by May. Additionally, he announced that all eligible non-gazetted police officers will be granted one honorary higher rank upon retirement, aiming to boost morale within the police force. Furthermore, eligible women in Kinnaur district will receive ₹1,500 under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana. The CM also honored various distinguished personalities and distributed land ownership documents to families under the Forest Rights Act (FRA).
