The Maharashtra government has given the green light for the Mumbai Metro Line 5 and 5A project, with a total cost of ₹18,130.55 crore (approximately $2.2 billion USD). The first phase of Metro Line 5, spanning 11.9 km with six elevated stations, is nearing completion, while the second phase will include an underground station to avoid traffic disruptions. The government also approved the extension of Line 5A, which will add 11.83 km and seven stations. In addition to the metro project, the state approved loans for land acquisition for three expressways in Vidarbha, aimed at enhancing connectivity and industrial growth. Furthermore, ₹1,063 crore was allocated for preparations related to the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela in 2027, ensuring improved facilities for the large influx of pilgrims expected at the event.
