This move aims to enhance national security operations and provide defense personnel with broader access to AI tools. Notably absent from this list is Anthropic, a company facing restrictions due to a supply-chain risk designation by the Pentagon, which has barred its tools from being used within the Department of Defense. Despite this, Anthropic's AI products are already in use in parts of the military. The Pentagon's internal AI platform, GenAI.mil, has gained significant traction, with over 1.3 million Department of Defense personnel accessing it within five months. Concerns regarding Anthropic's AI model, Mythos, have been raised due to its advanced cyber capabilities, which could enhance hacking potential. However, US President Donald Trump hinted at a possible improvement in Anthropic's standing with the government, suggesting potential future collaboration.
