According to Dealroom's Global Tech Ecosystem Index 2026, London has regained its title as Europe's top technology hub, surpassing Paris due to a surge in investments in artificial intelligence and deep tech innovation. In 2022, London tech firms raised an impressive $17.7 billion, contributing to the creation of 138 unicorns, startups valued at over $1 billion. Notable unicorns include Wayve, Granola, OLIX, and ElevenLabs. Globally, London ranks fourth, behind the Bay Area, New York, and Boston. Yoram Wijngaarde, founder and CEO of Dealroom.co, emphasized that London's resurgence reflects the resilience and maturity of the UK's tech ecosystem, which continues to attract global investment and foster significant companies in areas such as AI, fintech, and life sciences. Other European cities in the top 20 include Paris at eighth and Stockholm at nineteenth. Meanwhile, Berlin and Munich rank 22nd and 24th, respectively, with Munich experiencing growth in its defense sector, highlighted by companies like Helsing and ARX Robotics raising $763 million.
