Hired by John Templeton in 1987, Mobius launched one of the first mutual funds focused on rapidly developing markets and managed the Templeton Emerging Markets Group until 2016. His fund achieved an impressive average annual return of 13.4% from 1989 until his retirement, outperforming the MSCI Emerging Markets Index. Mobius was known for his hands-on approach, famously stating, “I believe in getting out and kicking the tires.” He also founded Mobius Capital Partners in 2018 and continued to seek investment opportunities until his passing.
