BJP leader Parvesh Verma criticized the furnishing of the bungalow, questioning the source of funds and alleging that it exceeds standard government norms. In response, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has vehemently denied these allegations, asserting that the images shared by the BJP are misleading and not representative of Kejriwal's residence. AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar claimed the pictures were sourced from the internet, specifically from Pinterest. This dispute has intensified as Kejriwal recently moved to the Lodhi Estate bungalow, which was allocated to him as a leader of a national party last October. The BJP has a history of targeting Kejriwal over alleged opulence, previously dubbing his former residence at 6, Flag Staff Road as 'Sheesh Mahal' and claiming that over ₹58 crore (approximately $7 million USD) was spent on luxury furnishings. The ongoing back-and-forth highlights the political tensions between the two parties, especially with upcoming elections in mind, as AAP leaders challenge the BJP to disclose their own residence details for comparison.
