Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka, India, will conduct three Lok Adalats from July to November 2026 to address a backlog of 56,337 pending cases across 46 courts. The first national Lok Adalat is set for July 11, where cases will be prioritized based on their duration, particularly those pending for five years or more. In the previous Lok Adalat held in March, 3,197 cases were resolved, resulting in settlements totaling approximately ₹19.06 crore (roughly $2.3 million USD). Additionally, a special Lok Adalat will focus on cheque dishonor cases, which have 13,357 pending cases, while another will address 43 cases pending in the Supreme Court from August 21 to 23. Judicial officers will identify cases suitable for settlement, and efforts will be made to expedite the serving of summons to ensure participation in the proceedings.
