Dale Steyn, a former South African cricketer, has sharply criticized the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) management for their decision to send Nicholas Pooran into the Super Over against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the IPL 2026 match. Pooran, who has been struggling throughout the tournament, has only managed 82 runs at an average of 10.25. In the match against KKR, he scored just nine runs off 12 balls before being dismissed by Varun Chakaravarthy. Steyn pointed out that sending Pooran to face Sunil Narine in the Super Over was a poor tactical decision, especially given Pooran's history of failure against Narine. He emphasized that Pooran has not scored more than 30 or 40 runs in the season, making the decision to send him in a 'criminal' move. Following this defeat, LSG now finds itself at the bottom of the IPL points table with only 4 points from eight matches.
