Mahmoud Sadis Buba, a Nigerian politician who gained attention for his youthful appearance, has stepped down from his bid for a National Assembly seat after a leaked passport raised questions about his age. Buba, who claimed to be 30 years old and attributed his child-like looks to hereditary dwarfism, is now alleged to have been born on August 27, 2010, making him just 16. This revelation contradicts Nigerian law, which mandates that politicians must be at least 30 years old. The controversy intensified when a family member purportedly released Buba's passport, asserting he was their 'younger brother.' Additionally, a former teacher claimed to have taught Buba in secondary school, confirming he is still a minor. Following this uproar, Buba announced his withdrawal from the election for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, citing reconciliation efforts within his party but omitting any mention of the age controversy in his resignation statement.
