K Kavitha, the daughter of K Chandrasekhar Rao (former Chief Minister of Telangana), announced the formation of her political party, 'Telangana Rashtra Sena' (TRS), at an event held on the outskirts of Hyderabad. This announcement comes after her suspension from the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) in September 2022, following accusations against party leaders T Harish Rao and J Santosh Kumar for damaging her father's reputation regarding the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project. Kavitha expressed her commitment to the aspirations of the people of Telangana through a post on her social media account, emphasizing a new political era. Since her suspension, she has been actively involved in public issues through Telangana Jagruthi, a cultural organization she leads. The BRS, originally named Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), was renamed in 2022.
