The Indian government has launched a nationwide free annual health check-up initiative for workers aged 40 years and above, under the new Labour Codes. This program, inaugurated by Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya at the ESIC Medical College and Hospital in Basaidarapur, New Delhi, on May 7, aims to improve early disease detection and strengthen occupational health systems. The initiative will be implemented through the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) network, allowing millions of workers to access preventive healthcare services. Health experts emphasize the importance of this program, as non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like diabetes and cardiovascular diseases are on the rise, particularly among individuals over 40. The screenings will include various health assessments, such as blood pressure monitoring and cardiovascular evaluations, helping to identify chronic conditions before they escalate.
