On April 23, 2026, Jomarie 'Yulo' Pañe, a suspected member of the New People’s Army (NPA), was killed during a series of armed encounters with government troops in Barangay Bucalan, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, Philippines. Brig. Gen. Ted Dumosmog, commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, confirmed Pañe's identity. He was reportedly part of the dismantled Central Negros 1 guerrilla front under the Komiteng Rehiyonal–Negros. The 62nd Infantry Battalion engaged about 10 rebels in three successive clashes at Sitio Guibawan, where Pañe's companions fled, leaving his body and an M16 rifle behind. Earlier, on April 21, the same unit encountered around 10 suspected rebels in Sitio Palaming, Barangay Binalbagan, where they recovered another M16 rifle but reported no casualties on either side.
