Israeli police announced the arrest of six citizens involved in a smuggling network that operated across the Egyptian and Jordanian borders. This operation was uncovered following an extensive investigation by the Shin Bet and the Central Unit of the Negev, the main law enforcement body for the Southern District of Israel Police. The investigation revealed that from 2024 to 2026, the network was responsible for numerous smuggling operations involving weapons and drugs, employing drones and various vehicles to facilitate their activities. Authorities reported the seizure of a significant cache of items, including dozens of pistols, M16 assault rifles, three machine guns, and thousands of rounds of ammunition, alongside large quantities of drugs. Some smuggling attempts were thwarted by border security forces. The six suspects, all residents of the Negev, were found to be key players in the procurement and trafficking of these illegal items, and indictments against them have been filed following the investigation's conclusion.
