The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested two youths, Krishna Mishra (20) from Kushinagar and Daniyal Ashraf (23) from Barabanki, for allegedly plotting attacks on police establishments and other sensitive locations. The arrests were made following intelligence reports that indicated attempts by Pakistan-based terror networks to recruit Indian youths through platforms like Instagram. Both accused were reportedly in contact with gangster Shehzad Bhatti and associates suspected of links to the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Investigations revealed they communicated through video calls and social media group chats, sharing plans to incite violence against police personnel. During questioning, Ashraf admitted to scouting a police station and seeking funds and firearms for a planned attack. The ATS recovered a 9 mm pistol and a .315 bore firearm from the accused, along with electronic evidence suggesting direct instructions from their handlers to target police officers. Both individuals have been presented in court, and further investigations are ongoing to uncover additional members of the network.
