- 01The project will establish modern imaging facilities in three MCD hospitals, addressing the lack of advanced diagnostic services.
- 02Over the past two years, the three hospitals have treated more than 3 million OPD patients and 142,000 IPD patients, indicating high demand for imaging services.
- 03The initiative aims to lower out-of-pocket expenses for EWS patients by offering CT and MRI services at regulated rates linked to the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS).
- 04The private partner will handle the investment, procurement, installation, operation, and maintenance of the imaging equipment, including 128 Slice CT and 1.5 Tesla MRI systems.
- 05A cluster-based model will be implemented to enhance operational viability and ensure standardized service delivery across the three hospitals.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has initiated a significant project to enhance diagnostic imaging services in three of its hospitals—Hindu Rao Hospital, Swami Dayanand Hospital, and Rajan Babu Institute of Pulmonary Medicine & Tuberculosis—through a public-private partnership (PPP) model. This initiative aims to address the current lack of MRI and CT scan facilities in these hospitals, which primarily serve economically weaker section (EWS) patients who often resort to expensive private labs for these services. The project is expected to alleviate financial burdens on patients by providing affordable imaging services at regulated rates linked to the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). In the last two years, the three hospitals collectively managed over 3 million outpatient and 142,000 inpatient cases, highlighting the urgent need for advanced diagnostic capabilities. The private partner will be responsible for the investment, procurement, installation, and maintenance of modern imaging equipment, including 128 Slice CT and 1.5 Tesla MRI systems. A cluster-based model will be adopted to improve operational efficiency and ensure standardized service delivery across the hospitals. The proposal is pending approval from the house of councillors.
