Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has called a meeting with all legislators of the National Conference (NC) on June 3 at his Gupkar residence. The agenda includes discussions on Cabinet expansion and various governance matters. This meeting comes at a critical time, as the NC-led coalition government approaches its 20-month mark in June. Abdullah aims to address the collective concerns of party members regarding the performance of ministers and the government’s overall effectiveness. A senior NC legislator highlighted dissatisfaction with how ministers are engaging with both the public and party members, indicating a need for improvement. Furthermore, there is a strong sentiment among NC leaders for increased representation of Central Kashmir within the Cabinet. Abdullah had previously hinted at wanting to make significant changes after the Eid ul-Azha celebrations, suggesting that this meeting could lead to important decisions regarding the future structure of the Cabinet.
