In a significant crackdown on narcotics operations in Kashmir, Srinagar Police have attached properties valued at approximately ₹4 crore under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This action is part of the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, aimed at combating drug trafficking in the region. The attached assets include residential houses, commercial shops, and land linked to two alleged drug peddlers in the Sangam and Nowhatta areas. Specifically, properties worth around ₹3 crore belonging to Gulam Ahmad Dar were seized in connection with FIR No. 14/2026, while a residential property valued at ₹1 crore belonging to Mohd Shafi Sheikh was attached under FIR No. 09/2018. Police assert that these properties were acquired using proceeds from the narcotics trade and emphasize their commitment to dismantling the financial networks supporting drug trafficking. The ongoing operations reflect a broader strategy to eliminate drug-related activities and promote a drug-free environment in Jammu and Kashmir.
