IIT Delhi has established a significant partnership with 18 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) to enhance research, student mobility, and faculty collaboration in India's technical education sector. Launched on June 4, 2026, this initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. A key feature is the Early Admission Scheme, which allows high-performing students from NITs to apply for MTech, MS (Research), and PhD programs at IIT Delhi without the need for GATE or other entrance exams, based solely on their academic and research achievements. Additionally, eligible final-year NIT students can attend IIT Delhi as Special Exchange Students, gaining access to advanced courses and research projects. The partnership also introduces a credit transfer system to ease academic transitions. To facilitate this collaboration, IIT Delhi has initiated the ALIGN program, which includes a Predoctoral Fellowship Scheme, joint research projects, and faculty exchanges, aiming to foster closer integration within India's higher education landscape.
