The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) commemorated its 78th anniversary on May 26, 2023, with significant military updates reflecting its ongoing operations. Since the ceasefire on April 17, the IDF reported the elimination of around 600 Hezbollah fighters, adding to the 1,800 killed during the height of conflict prior to the ceasefire. On the Gaza front, the IDF noted the deaths of 120 Hamas fighters, primarily when they approached the border line. In the West Bank, over 15,000 terror suspects have been arrested since the beginning of 2026, alongside the confiscation of more than 400 weapons and 20 lathes for explosive device manufacturing. The IDF's Home Front Command has also handled around 930,000 emergency calls in the past year. Additionally, the IDF is addressing the growing threat from Hezbollah's drones with experimental responses and has improved its rescue operations for injured soldiers using advanced electronic and artificial intelligence systems.
