Dr. Sharayu Ghole, a 75-year-old gynaecologist from Pune, India, reached Everest Base Camp at 5,364 meters on April 6, 2023, alongside her daughter-in-law, Pallavi Ghole. The journey began unexpectedly during a walk on Taljai Hill, where she met a trekker who inspired her to take on the challenge. Guided by Sherpa Phurba and facing harsh weather conditions, Dr. Ghole experienced significant physical demands due to low oxygen levels. However, she found strength in her positive mindset, attributing her resilience to her belief that anyone can achieve their dreams, a lesson she imparts to the underprivileged children she educates. Despite the cold and challenging conditions, she described reaching the base camp as a transformative experience filled with accomplishment and bliss. Her daughter-in-law was a constant source of support throughout the trek, making the journey even more special.
