A 35-year-old man has died after a shark attack while fishing off the coast of Western Australia, marking the third fatal shark attack in the country in three weeks. The incident occurred on Saturday morning near Michaelmas Island, close to Albany, approximately 388 kilometers south of Perth. The victim was spearfishing with family when he was attacked by a shark. Emergency crews, including multiple paramedics from St John Ambulance, treated him for over two hours at the scene before confirming his death. Witnesses reported seeing a 4.5-meter (14.8-foot) shark of an unknown species in the vicinity. This attack follows the deaths of two other men in separate incidents: one on May 24 near the Great Barrier Reef and another off an island near Perth just ten days earlier. In light of the recent fatalities, the Department of Primary Industries has issued warnings for increased caution in the area and has advised adherence to any beach closures enforced by local authorities. Police are preparing a report for the coroner regarding the incident.
