On Wednesday, DK Shivakumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, marking a significant transition in leadership after Siddaramaiah's resignation. The oath-taking ceremony, held at Lok Bhavan, was attended by prominent Congress leaders and public figures. Shivakumar, along with Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara and a 12-member cabinet, immediately focused on youth-centric initiatives. His first major announcement was the provision of free bus passes for all school and college students, addressing previous limitations on free travel. Additionally, he proposed the establishment of a private employment exchange aimed at reducing unemployment. Shivakumar also plans to form 10,000 Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas across the state to enhance leadership and social harmony, with each group receiving ₹10 lakh for support. In his address, he emphasized collective progress and the importance of inclusive participation from all sectors of society. Prime Minister Modi congratulated Shivakumar, highlighting the Centre's commitment to collaborate with the new Karnataka government for the welfare of its citizens.
