As the BJP government in Rajasthan marks two years in power, the party's workers are growing increasingly restless due to the absence of political appointments. Currently, 52 posts across various state commissions and boards remain unfilled, leaving many candidates who supported the party during elections feeling overlooked. Although seven appointments were made recently, the process has since stalled, with BJP state president Madan Rathore indicating that the party is awaiting the completion of elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Assam before finalizing further appointments. The last significant appointment was that of Arun Chaturvedi as head of the Finance Commission. The situation is compounded by the recent annulment of nominations made during the previous Congress regime, affecting approximately 2,000 members across 309 urban local bodies, including 10 Municipal Corporations. Many party workers are concerned that without timely appointments, mobilization for the upcoming Panchayat elections will be challenging. Political appointments not only provide prestige but also come with benefits such as salaries, offices, and vehicles, which many appointees feel are lacking compared to previous administrations. The internal dynamics within the party, particularly regarding preferences for candidates close to influential leaders like Vasundhara Raje, further complicate the situation as the party navigates its strategy ahead of the elections.
