Bialik clarified that her intention was not weight loss, but rather to address issues related to Graves' disease, connective tissue disease, and other ailments. However, after taking the lowest dose of the medication, she suffered severe side effects, including explosive diarrhea, cramping, and an inability to keep food or fluids down, which necessitated IV hydration. Bialik described her ordeal as a significant adverse reaction, stating that it was an understatement to call it merely that. Ultimately, she decided against continuing the treatment and reflected on her long-standing struggles with body image, admitting that even amidst her suffering, thoughts of potential weight loss crossed her mind. Following this experience, she chose to give away the remaining doses of the medication she had purchased.
