SpaceX has finalized a major cloud computing agreement with Google, which will see the tech giant pay $920 million per month for access to a substantial cluster of AI chips. This agreement, disclosed in SpaceX's initial public offering (IPO) filing, is set to significantly enhance the company's finances ahead of its IPO scheduled for June 12, 2024. The deal encompasses a computing infrastructure featuring approximately 110,000 Nvidia GPUs, which are crucial for powering Google's Gemini AI models. The contract will run until June 2029, with total payments expected to reach around $30 billion. Google will implement a reduced fee during a ramp-up period until full payments commence in October 2026. This agreement follows a similar deal with AI firm Anthropic, which also involves leasing computing capacity from SpaceX. A Google Cloud spokesperson emphasized that this agreement is a timely measure to meet the rising demand for their Gemini Enterprise platform. SpaceX's IPO, anticipated to be the largest ever, is based on expectations that CEO Elon Musk will successfully expand the Starlink satellite business and develop space-based data centers.
