During a recent meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Council of Defense Ministers in Moscow, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin proposed that the CSTO could serve as a pivotal force in creating a new international security framework for Eurasia. He asserted that the organization is equipped to respond effectively to contemporary threats and challenges. Khrenin highlighted the alarming trend of European armies significantly rearming, enhancing their ability to deploy coalition forces to NATO's eastern borders, particularly in Poland and the Baltic states. He pointed out that NATO's total military spending has reached a staggering $1.6 trillion, reflecting a growing trend. Khrenin criticized Western leaders and defense industries for perceiving warfare as a strategy for internal stability and profit generation. He stressed the necessity for CSTO member states to unify, make swift decisions, and operate cohesively to counter these emerging threats.
