The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to destabilize its ranks by leveraging former AAP leader Raghav Chadha, who is reportedly joining the BJP. AAP Punjab chief spokesperson Baltej Pannu made these allegations during a press conference, stating that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is trying to influence AAP MPs to defect and reduce the party's representation in Parliament. Pannu claimed that Shah promised Chadha a ministerial position if he could persuade seven AAP MPs to break away. He also alleged that central agencies, such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED), are being used to intimidate AAP leaders, a tactic he believes has been employed since AAP assumed power in Punjab. Pannu emphasized that despite these pressures, AAP lawmakers remain united. The remarks come after AAP replaced Chadha with Ashok Mittal as deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, following Chadha's controversial statements about being “silenced, not defeated.” In response, Punjab BJP leader Vineet Joshi dismissed AAP's claims as baseless, labeling them a “bundle of lies.”
