Carlos Alcaraz, the reigning champion of the French Open, has confirmed that he will not be participating in the 2026 tournament due to a wrist injury. This injury, identified as tenosynovitis, was sustained during the first round of the ATP 500 Barcelona Open. Initially thought to be minor, the injury has turned out to be more severe, prompting Alcaraz to withdraw from Roland Garros, which begins on May 24. The 23-year-old Spaniard, who triumphed at the Australian Open in January 2026, expressed his disappointment on social media, emphasizing the importance of caution in his recovery. He stated, "This is a difficult time for me, but I am sure we will come out of this stronger." Despite feeling better, Alcaraz will also miss the upcoming Queen's Club Championships and Wimbledon. As of now, he has achieved seven Grand Slam titles, including two French Open victories in 2024 and 2025, solidifying his status as a top competitor in the sport.
