The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has officially closed a consumer dispute involving MakeMyTrip after the company paid ₹2.73 lakh (approximately $3,300 USD) to the complainants. The dispute originated in 2017, when consumers, including Ela Mehta and Hema Siddhartha Chand, alleged deficiencies in travel-related services. After years of legal proceedings, the Maharashtra State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ruled in favor of the consumers on February 25, 2024, directing MakeMyTrip to compensate them. Following this ruling, MakeMyTrip filed an appeal with the NCDRC in 2025, but later confirmed that it had complied with the state commission's order by paying the full amount through demand drafts. The NCDRC noted that the decree had been satisfied and closed the case, emphasizing that once compensation is paid, the legal dispute is resolved. This settlement concludes nearly a decade-long legal battle for the affected consumers.
