In Bihar, nine colleges affiliated with four universities—Patna University, Patliputra University, B R Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU), and Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU)—are set to introduce apprenticeship-embedded degree programs (AEDP) starting in the 2026-27 academic session. This initiative aims to provide job-oriented education, ensuring immediate employment opportunities for graduates. Governor Syed Ata Hasnain has approved the necessary ordinance and regulations, which include seven approved course structures. These structures encompass various majors such as banking, financial services, insurance, content writing, health care management, and digital electronics. Selected institutions include B N College and Magadh Mahila College under Patna University, and several others under the other three universities. The state's higher education director, N K Agrawal, emphasized that these programs will enhance the skills of students and improve their employability. The educational framework will require students to complete core academic coursework before engaging in mandatory full-time apprenticeships during their final semesters.
