Orlando Health has inaugurated its Strategic Innovations group within the University of Central Florida's (UCF) SPRK building, a move designed to enhance healthcare innovation by connecting real clinical challenges with academic talent. This collaboration aims to foster a healthcare environment where ideas can be tested and improved through direct student engagement. The space, covering approximately 2,649 square feet, serves as an extension of Orlando Health’s downtown headquarters and is jointly funded by Orlando Health Ventures and the Orlando Health Innovation teams. UCF President Alexander N. Cartwright emphasized that this partnership accelerates the development of real-world healthcare solutions for the community. The initiative is part of UCF's broader co-location strategy, which encourages industry partnerships on campus to drive innovation. Orlando Health has also pledged $5 million towards the Dr. Phillips Nursing Pavilion to support nursing internships and scholarships, addressing Florida's nursing shortage. This collaboration has already begun to impact areas such as cancer research and AI technology, exemplifying the potential of industry-academic partnerships to transform healthcare delivery.
