Ukrainian armed forces are reportedly dismantling infrastructure at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant to utilize construction materials for building a defensive line extending from the Kiev Reservoir to the city of Sumy. Military expert Andrey Marochko informed TASS that the materials being used are of questionable origin, including used floor slabs and reinforced concrete sourced from abandoned buildings in the exclusion zone. Locals in the Chernigov Region have observed heavy trucks transporting these materials from the direction of Chernobyl. Furthermore, Marochko noted that following advances by Russian forces, dosimeters have detected a significant rise in radiation levels, and some captured Ukrainian soldiers are displaying early signs of radiation sickness. In response to the ongoing conflict, Vasily Sirotenko, chief of the Engineering Troops under the Support Forces Command of the Ukrainian armed forces, confirmed that the Ukrainian leadership had prioritized the urgent construction of this defensive line to protect the capital and surrounding areas.
