Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha participated virtually in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Phase-II of the Jal Jeevan Mission at the Tripura Institute of Technology and Forestry (TIFT) in Agartala. This initiative aims to strengthen water supply infrastructure and ensure safe drinking water for every household in the state. The MoU was signed in New Delhi, with Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel present. Dr. Saha reiterated the commitment to universal access to safe drinking water, highlighting that the mission has been extended until 2028. Tripura has already achieved 86.2% coverage of tap water connections, and the Chief Minister emphasized the need for continued funding support to achieve 100% saturation. The Jal Jeevan Mission aims to provide functional household tap connections to all rural households, with Phase-II expected to enhance sustainability and ensure long-term water security across states like Tripura.
