This weekend, Glossop, a market town in Derbyshire, England, will host the Derbyshire Makes Glossop Festival Day on May 9. The festival aims to celebrate creativity through various activities, including live performances, hands-on workshops, and a makers' market. The event will transform everyday spaces in the town, from Norfolk Square to the High Street, into vibrant venues for community engagement. Notable performances include Matt Pang, who combines circus arts with handcrafted inventions. On May 10, the festival will continue with the Dare to Dream Sewing Bee at Glossop Market Hall, welcoming participants of all abilities to create collective textile pieces. Additionally, on May 8, local school children will participate in workshops led by The Makory, a touring makerspace. The festival is supported by Derbyshire County Council and funded by Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Claire Tymon, Director of Local Creative Project Ltd, emphasized the festival's goal to demonstrate that creativity is for everyone, fostering connections and new possibilities within the community.
