The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has submitted a proposal to develop a six-level multi-level car parking (MLCP) facility with commercial space at Guru Dronacharya Metro station. This initiative is part of the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF), a central government scheme designed to enhance urban infrastructure. The proposed site spans 2,513 square meters and aims to accommodate the parking needs of approximately 34,295 daily commuters. Each parking slot will measure 30 square meters, and the facility will feature smart parking systems, electric vehicle (EV) charging points, and pedestrian connectivity to the metro station via a foot overbridge or subway. The project is intended to be executed under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. The DMRC is currently awaiting approval from the Haryana town and country planning department, after which it will prepare a detailed project report and conduct a traffic impact assessment. The Urban Challenge Fund, approved by the union government in February, aims to invest ₹4 lakh crore in urban infrastructure, with ₹1 lakh crore in central assistance.
